Lauren Utter

Lauren literally wears many hats.  As a graduate of Parsons the New School for Design and with many years of industry experience under her belt, eight years ago she began a partnership to design and produce hand made and embroidered knit caps in Nepal.  Since then the woman owned business has grown and expanded with many boutique accounts peppered across the northern regions of the country.  These hats are designed here in Boulder county, ethically made by female artisans in Nepal, and lined in fleece so they will really keep you warm while looking cool all during the colder months.

For the past 20 years Lauren has also been the manager and buyer for Elfriede’s Fine Fabrics, purveyor of natural fabric for apparel sewing located in Boulder for nearly 50 years and with nationwide reach online.  The samples she makes for the store in order to sell the Italian silks and wools she stocks, are now available for the very first time here at the New Local.  Each is one of a kind, designed here and made with truly incredible natural fiber fabrics.   Also keep an eye out for the silk eye pillows upcycled from the scraps of these projects, filled with flax or barley and also for sale here.
